Here's a few photos of a trip, made April 17, 2005. Stayed up until 4:00 AM the night before,
making some quick changes to the bike (had noticed a wire touching the exhaust). Then headed
out at 9:30 AM that morning; supposedly to meet with some other riders.
Got to the place we were supposed to meet and no one else had showed (weather too cold?), so
took the route they had planned myself. Got back home around 5:30 PM, having had a great ride
anyway (riding alone has its advantages too). The bike ran great, which was especially
satisfying after all the work done
during the winter months. The benefits can now be reaped!
On the way from Barhead to Sandy Beach, I decided to try a short-cut - some secondary road
(777) that turned out to be 20 kms of gravel (some of it quite loose). That was an
interesting change from spending all day on blacktop. Sure wasn't a straight road (like the
map showed), as it twisted and turned and dead-ended in various places, but I eventually
hooked up with the secondary highway to Sandy Beach I was looking for.
Temperatures ranged from just above freezing (early morning) to a high of about 10 Celsius
(50 Farenheit), overcast and with strong winds.
Kept the handlebar warmers
turned on until about 2:00 PM and the heated vest stayed plugged in the entire trip.
|
The repair/alteration to the nose-cone wiring (to keep it clear of the exhaust) made the night before.
|
First Stop, Seba Beach Restaurant (closed)
|
Second Stop, Rochfort Bridge.
|
Third Stop, Blue Ridge Hotel
|
Exiting 20 km of gravel road
|
Final Stop, Sandy Beach
